Our motivation
At present, more than 120,000 people in Bulgaria have various degrees of hearing loss. A large part of them rely mainly on sign language as a means of daily communication and the need for professional sign language interpreters is ever growing.
How did everything start?
Back in 2011 we started a campaign to improve the condition at the the Bulgarian Secondary School with kindergarten for Deaf children “Prof.Decho Denev and to
focuses public attention on the challenges people who are hard of hearing face and raises the Bulgarian public’s awareness of hearing health. We were participants in funds raising for the new “Kids Corner” in the school. It is the only one in Bulgaria that is currently operating and that offers full boarding for children all over the country. In 2013 we donated video materials and spent one day in watching cartoons with the kids. Visiting the boarding school we realized in what misery they have to live and what poor educational environment they have, missing all modern techniques that the other developed European countries use to teach deaf children. We decided that this broke the equal opportunity for life and cut all chances of that people for normal life. Bulgarian Deaf Federation cannot help as much as they want due to the economic situation in the country. So we decided to provide more information for the society about these people and show them at loud and speak for their actual needs.
